The six-mile Cypress Creek Trail is set along the historic Cypress Creek Corridor, a 1,000-acre nature area and creek system bordering the northern edge of the Bridgeland community. The trail will feature a mix of pathways, with sidewalks leading to the main trail, which features decomposed granite. A series of secondary trails composed of rustic wood chips will weave through more densely wooded areas.

Along the trail, there will be wildlife observation areas amid the trees and on Cypress Lake, as well as “points of interest” with benches and educational signage pertaining to the history of the area and indigenous plants and animals. Hikers will be able to glimpse some of the 140 species of birds already identified in the area. A floating dock has been installed and the other amenities along the trail’s first 1.5 miles will be completed in 2008.

Residents will be able to access the trailhead for Cypress Creek Trail at Oak Meadow Park, a 30-acre wooded setting that offers picnic areas, an 18-hole disc golf course nestled between the banks of Cypress Lake and Cypress Creek, a stocked lake and a covered pavilion with restrooms. The trailhead will include a seating area and a map of the trail system
