More than 1,500 people helped Bridgeland welcome Lakeland Heights, a traditional neighborhood development (TND) that seamlessly blends homes, shops, parks, restaurants and services, during the recent Urban Nights event.
During the grand opening celebration, held June 25, visitors were entertained by Houston’s Spellbound, caricature artists, face painters and street performers such as a “live” statue and a juggler with flaming torches. A festive urban market and wine and food tastings added to the fun.
Also during the event, Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County collected money for its Women Build, a “women-helping-women” project that has all-female volunteer crews build a home for a single mother and her children.
Cypress Cares also was on hand to collect items for care packages for U.S. troops overseas.
Urban Nights also launched a three-week tour of seven homes showcasing the architectural styles available in Lakeland Heights. As an added bonus, visitors touring the showcase homes can register to win an iPad. The tour ends July 11.
Lakeland Heights opened in the spring and the first sales contract was signed within days of the community’s launch. David Weekley is the builder in Lakeland Heights, with base pricing from the $160,000s to $300,000s. The first amenities also are open, including Festival Park, which hosted Urban Nights, the three-acre Rabbit Run, Central Park and a half-mile waterway featuring a landmark bridge, trails, park space and seating areas. Also planned are schools and the Lakeland Village Center, a market square with shopping, services and dining — all within walking distance of homes.
