Bridgeland community residents were very merry earlier this month during the first of two holiday events.

More than 600 turned out for the annual Christmas in the Park event, which included a visit by Santa, pulled on his sleigh by a live reindeer. Dickens-style carolers keep the atmosphere festive, and cups of hot chocolate warmed hands and tummies.

The highlight of the evening event, however, were piles of snow that generated plenty of slipping, sliding and snowball throwing.

The accolades just keep coming for the Cypress community of Bridgeland, which most recently won nine Silver Awards from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

The development will go on to compete in The Nationals 2009 Gold Awards, vying against national and international entrants. Presented by the National Sales and Marketing Council of the NAHB, The Nationals pays tribute to superior new-home sales and marketing achievements. Gold Award winners will be announced in January during NAHB’s International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.

Bridgeland received Silver Awards in the following categories: Master-Planned Community of Year, Marketing Director of the Year (Kriste Klepper), Best Landscape Design for a Detached Community, Best Website, Best Special Promotion (Discovery Weekend), Best Series of Related Print Ads, Best Direct Mail, Best Brochure for a Master-Planned Community, and Best Graphic Continuity.
