Bridgeland Differences

Posted | Tagged in: lifestyle , Bridgeland

There’s something different about the northwest community of Bridgeland.

Maybe you notice right away — no obtrusive power lines, terraced elevations and homes buffered from major thoroughfares. Or maybe you only sense the distinctions, leaving with a feeling of tranquility and “the search is over” after touring the community.

Different is good.

It’s no accident Bridgeland stands out. Planners developed a careful road map for the community, one that embraced common sense and character. The community offers a host of differences, including:

New Housing Products Availalbe this Year

Progress is continuing in the Bridgeland community, with a new model home opening this spring and builders moving into a new neighborhood.

Bridgeland’s convenient model home park will expand to 17 homes when Trendmaker opens its Living View model home at 12511 Shorelands Road this spring. The Living View product, priced from the $350,000s, has a wide footprint, allowing for abundant windows on the front and rear of the home, and thus providing bright and airy space and views from nearly every room. Because the designs don’t penetrate deeply into a homesite, backyards can measure nearly 1,000 square feet larger with Trendmaker’s Living View Series design compared to a traditional layout on a standard 65-foot homesite.

Exciting news for nature lovers — the northwest community of Bridgeland will soon open a one-mile extension of a neighborhood trail, reforesting the area with more than 1,000 trees.

The new portion of the House-Hahl Trail will open soon, nearly doubling the current span of the asphalt trail interspersed with exercise stations. The focus of the trail’s second phase is reforestation, which will result in the planting of more than 1,000 trees. The trail also serves as a neighborhood link, with the extension connecting the communities of The Shores and The Cove.

General Growth Properties (GGP) announces the promotion of Peter C. Houghton to the position of Vice President, Master-Planned Communities. Houghton will serve as the senior executive officer at Bridgeland, an 11,400-acre master planned community that is currently under development on Fry Road between Interstate 10 and U.S. 290.

“Houghton’s role has expanded to include general management of and responsibility for all Bridgeland operations,” said Thomas J. D’Alesandro IV, Senior Vice President of GGP. “This promotion is well deserved. Peter brings to the position more than 30 years of experience in land development.”

Bridgeland was named Master-Planned Community of the Year during The Nationals 2009 Gold Awards, topping both national and international entrants.

Presented by the National Sales and Marketing Council of the National Association of Home Builders, The Nationals pay tribute to superior new-home sales and marketing achievements. Gold Award winners were announced Jan. 20 during NAHB’s International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.
