Neighborhood, community, village – that’s the world of Bridgeland, one carefully constructed to foster hometown loyalty and cater to a variety of ages and income levels.
Like The Woodlands, another General Growth Property development, the Bridgeland community is employing the village concept, with clusters of neighborhoods combining with retail, schools, places of worship and more to create a distinct area — in essence, a small town.

With an eye on the past and a vision for the future, the northwest Houston community of Bridgeland will celebrate its first 300 families with a tribute to the Old Three Hundred, the first settlers of Texas.
For each of the Bridgeland pioneers, a commemorative brick engraved with the family’s surname will be permanently installed in Pioneer Park, one of several neighborhood parks within the 10,000-acre development. The park is part of the now-open Lakeland Activity Center recreation complex that includes an aquatic center with an Olympic-size pool, a diving well with two platforms, two 30-foot sky slides, splash pads and play areas. A 6,000-square-foot Community Center houses a fitness center and meeting rooms. A full-time on-site activities director hosts a slate of classes and activities. The Lakeland Activity Center also has two lighted tennis courts and two shaded play areas – a tot lot and one designed for older children.
Just as the Texas pioneers helped establish this great state, Bridgeland’s first residents will be integral to the community’s continued growth.
“These first families are helping lay the foundation of the Bridgeland community, while having the privilege of watching it grow and prosper in the coming years,” said senior marketing director Kriste Klepper. “Pioneer Circle is a special way for us to recognize them.”

The Bridgeland community’s new activities director started her job with a bang – literally – staging an old-fashioned Fourth of July party for residents.
Elizabeth Hart, who offices on-site at the community, planned a day of fun in the sun as her first official event. Residents enjoyed hot dogs, watermelon, games and a DJ poolside at the resort-style Lakeland Activity Center. The July 4th party was just the first of many events and classes Hart will initiate in the community.
“American Red Cross swim lessons for toddlers and preschoolers begin Monday,” said Hart, who previously worked for the City of Keller as a recreation supervisor.
