Abundant Amenities

Posted | Tagged in: nature , lifestyle

Buyers interested in the Cypress development of Bridgeland have their choice of four communities, each graced by abundant lakes, diverse homes and natural amenities.

All of the communities – First Bend, The Cove, Water Haven and The Shores — are located in Lakeland Village, one of four villages that will comprise Bridgeland.

Each community has distinct, complementary amenities. In First Bend, a community focal point is Turtle Lane, a strolling path that features bronze climbing statues in the shape of turtles, nestled beneath one of the community’s old-growth oak trees. Turtle Lane culminates in Butterfly Garden, a small park planted with butterfly-friendly perennial flowers and plants. Plus, First Bend residents can enjoy other small parks and playgrounds interspersed throughout neighborhoods.

Bridges Create Connectivity

Visible assurances of the Bridgeland community’s commitment to protecting nature, integrating natural resources into the everyday lives of its residents and enhancing walkability will become more evident this summer, as one of many planned pedestrian bridges is set for installation.

Bridges will be of varying sizes, with a typical span of 150-195 feet throughout the development, connecting neighborhoods, parks, trails and other green space. Construction materials will complement their existing surroundings, with a weathered steel frame and a tropical hardwood deck. Currently, three pedestrian bridges have been installed within the community, with another four expected to be in place by year’s end. The next installation, set for June, will be a bridge spanning Cypress Lake, providing access to Cypress Creek Nature Trail.

Creative Parks

Turning the ordinary into extraordinary, the Bridgeland community is doing much more than simply incorporating parks into its master plan – it’s creating dedicated gardens that will be natural oases for residents.

A focal point within Bridgeland’s First Bend community is Turtle Lane, a strolling path that features bronze climbing statues in the shape of turtles. The sculptures are nestled beneath one of the community’s several old-growth oak trees, estimated to be more than 50 years old, and carefully preserved by Bridgeland’s developer, General Growth Properties, Inc. Turtle Lane culminates in the Butterfly Garden, a small park planted with butterfly-friendly perennial flowers and shrubbery. Benches throughout the garden offer comfortable viewing areas to watch the playful creatures amid the colorful blooms.

The Cypress community of Bridgeland – named “Planned Community of the Year” at the 2008 Greater Houston Builders Association’s PRISM Awards – prides itself in the many distinctions that define the development and set it apart from other master-planned communities.

These Bridgeland differences can be found throughout the community, from a flowing street layout designed to enhance views to the many diverse housing styles and amenities. Just some of the carefully conceived distinctions include:

Hallmark Design Homes has summer-ready homes in two neighborhoods within Bridgeland, a Cypress community with diverse amenities and a natural landscape.

Other highlights include a sitting area in the master suite, two-inch blinds throughout, a front porch with a stone elevation and fully sodded front and back yards, with a sprinkler system. With 3,242 square feet, the home is priced at $284,000.

The Bridgeland community has such a fun summer planned, residents simply won’t want to leave home.

A new concert series launches June 1 with popular local band The Grateful Geezers. The lively band has an extensive play list and will get the crowd on their feet with a mixture of classic rock, blues, soul and ‘70s funk. Bridgeland concerts will be held the first Sunday of every month at The Shores Park.

The Shores also will host the new Movies in the Park series, which will be the third Friday of each month. “Alvin and the Chipmunks” heads a host of family-friendly movies that will be shown on a huge inflatable screen.

David Powers Homes is introducing its patio home series in Bridgeland’s newest community, Water Haven.

David Powers will be the exclusive builder in Lake Haven, an intimate enclave of 29 homesites wrapped by lakes on two sides. The builder will have nine plans in the neighborhood, designed exclusively for Bridgeland. Homes will range from 2,070 square feet to more than 3,000 square feet, with prices starting in the $240,000s.

Taking a fresh approach to home construction, Trendmaker is promising generous, light-filled living areas, larger-than-normal backyards and striking elevations – and it’s all happening in Bridgeland.

Trendmaker is debuting its new Living View Series in Bridgeland’s newest community, Water Haven, a distinctive collection of lakeside neighborhoods boasting abundant common areas.

Rather than narrow front elevations that penetrate deep into a homesite, Trendmaker’s new designs have a wide footprint, allowing for abundant windows on the front and rear of the home, thus providing bright and airy space and views from nearly every room. Backyards can measure nearly 1,000 square feet larger with Trendmaker’s Living View Series design compared to a traditional layout on a standard 65-foot homesite.
