Strategic Land Purchase

General Growth Properties has purchased an additional 1,234 acres that are strategically located for Bridgeland, a young master-planned community near Cypress, Texas. The acquisition brings Bridgeland’s total acreage to 11,401, making it one of the largest master-planned communities in the Houston area.

More importantly for the developer, it gives the Bridgeland community access to the future Grand Parkway (Texas 99), since the purchased land includes more than a mile of parkway frontage, said Peter Houghton, vice president of sales for Bridgeland.

From fishing to disc golf to kayaking, Bridgeland community residents have plenty of outdoor amenities to keep them active.

Earlier this year, more than 238,000 specially selected fish were introduced to populate neighborhood lakes and offer Bridgeland residents the opportunity to “reel in the big one” on a catch-and-release basis.

“We love having a stocked lake so close,” said Gary Nelson, one of Bridgeland’s first residents. “My daughter caught her first fish on her first cast in our very own neighborhood. It was pretty exciting.”

The northwest community of Bridgeland boasts an amenity-rich master plan, with the development’s natural landscape a focal point as residents look forward to exploring 60 miles of trails and 225 acres of parks.

A highlight of the planned trail system will be the six-mile Cypress Creek Trail, set along the historic Cypress Creek corridor, a 1,000-acre nature area and creek system bordering Bridgeland’s northern boundary. The first 1.5 miles of Cypress Creek Trail will open by year’s end. Along the trail, there will be wildlife observation areas amid the trees and on Cypress Lake, as well as “points of interest” approximately every 600 yards with benches and educational signage pertaining to the history of the area and indigenous plants and animals.

With more than 30 homes ready or nearing completion in a variety of price ranges, the Cypress community of Bridgeland is prepared to accommodate any move-in schedule.

Eleven production builders offer designs in Bridgeland: David Powers Homes, David Weekley Homes, Darling Homes, Hallmark Design Homes, Highland Homes, Meritage Homes, Wilshire Homes, Perry Homes, Village Builders, Partners in Building and Trendmaker Homes. Starting prices are from the $170,000s to $380,000s. Custom builders include Tommy Bailey Homes, Ronny Carroll Custom Homes and Masterpiece Homes.

Home shopping within the Bridgeland community is easy, thanks to two convenient amenities.

A first stop for home buyers is the community’s Welcome Center, a traditional structure that blends the newest interactive technology to help you select the best home and homesite for your family.

Welcome Center visitors are greeted by a warm vignette, with the lobby decorated to resemble a traditional family room including a fireplace. Parisian rugs, rich mahogany accents and decorative duck decoys reflective of Bridgeland’s natural bird habitat surround each visitor as they enter. A 60-inch interactive touch-screen plasma map helps visitors better view their future homes, with the map showcasing everything from a regional perspective of the development to a microcosm of each individual home site, elevation, price and builder. With a touch of the screen, pop-up windows of information illustrate Bridgeland’s future, including an aerial photo showing the entire 10,000 acres, the conceptual plan, renderings of planned amenities and shopping.

Relax, play, learn, work – live. That’s what the Bridgeland community offers through its thoughtful master plan, essentially a home where you can find balance for your life.

Planned for more than 21,000 homes and 65,000 residents, the 10,000-acre Bridgeland community offers a wealth of home choices and amenities. Buyers can easily see what the development’s builders offer in Bridgeland’s convenient model home park, showcasing 15 models by 11 builders. Currently, buyers can select from single-family homes priced from the $170,000s as well as custom designs priced from the high $600,000s to over $1 million. As development continues, more housing types will be introduced, including an urban-styled Traditional Neighborhood Development, that will feature brownstone and single-family housing adjacent to retail and amenities.
