You’ll find residents of the Bridgeland master-planned community poolside this weekend as the development officially welcomes its first recreation center, Lakeland Activity Center.
The resident “Splash Bash” promises plenty of aquatic fun, with a variety of games to keep the day lively and cool. Partygoers also will enjoy refreshments and favors. A July 21-22 event will introduce prospective Bridgeland buyers to the complex.
A focal point of the Lakeland Activity Center is a 6,000-square-foot Community Center featuring a fitness center with state-of-the-art cardiovascular and strength-training equipment. Meeting rooms are available for various resident meetings, parties, reunions and more. A serving kitchen with pass-through windows opens to several meeting rooms to streamline party hosting duties. A well-appointed great room with vaulted ceilings, skylights, a fireplace and comfortable seating greets residents and their guests.
The Community Center complements the architecture of Bridgeland’s Welcome Center, a replica of an early 20th-century Houston red brick Tudor home. A grand promenade offering panoramic sunset, bridge and nature views surrounds Lake Bridgeland, one of several stocked lakes where residents can fish on a catch-and-release basis.
Beyond the Community Center is a resort-style swimming complex with a six-lane Olympic-size pool, a diving well with two platforms and a gradual-depth play pool with volleyball nets. A young children’s pool offers slides and spray toys. Two 30-foot tower slides are ready for tubing and a spray park features splashy fountains and creative water toys. Expansive sun shades offer relief from the Houston sun. Conveniently nearby are a separate restroom cabana just for the pool area, outdoor spray showers, vending machines with snacks and drinks.
Lakeland Activity Center also offers two lighted tennis courts and two shaded playgrounds padded with a soft cushioning material for the occasional tumble. Elizabeth Hart, Bridgeland’s new activity director, is now on-site and will set a full calendar of events, classes and parties.
“The Lakeland Activity Center will be the hub of activity for Bridgeland’s first neighborhood,” said Bridgeland project manager Don Smith. “Designed to enhance residents’ quality of life, the center is just the beginning of what Bridgeland will offer in the way of recreational amenities. We will add activity centers as the Bridgeland community grows.”
Bridgeland is a development of General Growth Properties, Inc., the second-largest U.S.-based publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) in the nation. As owner of Bridgeland and majority owner of The Woodlands, General Growth Properties is one of the largest master-planned community developers in the Houston area.
