IT’S OPEN, IT’S OPEN!

Raise a glass, and toast Prost to Bridgeland’s newest eatery and the first Swiss restaurant in Greater Houston, Edelweiss Stube. Area residents have long awaited the opening of the corner restaurant in Lakeland Village Center featuring authentic Swiss cuisine. It opened its doors for a soft opening this past Saturday, July 6.

A soft opening allows the restaurant to work out any kinks before the official Grand Opening – according to posts on Facebook – happening on Tuesday, July 16. They will continue with their soft opening this week, except Monday, serving a limited dinner menu from 5-9pm.

Edelweiss adds cultural variety to recently opened eateries within Cypress, giving area residents a diverse selection of food choices. Open less than a week and already receiving rave reviews on social media, the restaurant is sure to be a favorite destination for residents seeking a relaxing and flavorful meal.

As our community continues to grow in size and with people moving here from all over the world, co-owners Markus Klauser and William Payne knew Bridgeland was the perfect community to open Edelweiss Stube. Bridgeland’s concept of bringing people together blended well with their desire to make mealtime more eventful.

Coming together at the end of a day to share experiences while sitting down for a meal is in the Swiss tradition. Payne and Klauser wanted to bring this tradition to Cypress and envision area residents doing the same – with family and friends. Instead of a rushing through a meal, Edelweiss’ owners want you to relax and enjoy the company around the table, turning the everyday routine into an experience to be savored.

Both Payne and Klauser live locally, but items on the menu are inspired from Klauser’s Swiss heritage. Klauser learned the essence of Swiss cuisine from his aunt’s family who owns a restaurant in their home town.

Payne will oversee daily operations of the restaurant, while Klauser will be busy leading efforts in the kitchen. He’ll be preparing traditional favorites such as raclette – Edelweiss’ shareable dish where a cheese wheel is heated, scraped and added to diner’s plates. The signature menu item is prepared tableside, offering an experience in the Swiss tradition.

The restaurant is named after Switzerland’s national flower. The décor uses warm woods giving the impression of dining in an Alpine lodge. The soothing natural elements add to the relaxing ambiance allowing diners to linger longer around the table, sharing stories and even plates of Älplermagronen and Zürcher Geschnetzeltes mit Rösti.

Bridgeland residents can easily stroll over to Lakeland Village Center to enjoy these crowd pleasing pasta and beef dishes. Pronouncing them might prove difficult but eating them will be easy. Adding melted raclette is recommended for additional depth of flavor.

The soft opening menu is limited, and it is also recommended that you call ahead to inquire about table availability to enjoy the raclette experience.

Edelweiss Stube is located at 10611 Fry Rd. Beginning July 16, Swiss cuisine and culture will be served up six days a week: Tuesday through Thursday 10 am – 11pm, and Friday – Sunday from 11 am – 11 pm.
