To bridge nature with development better than it has ever been done: Bridgeland was born from this singular idea. From day one, our approach to achieving this lofty goal has been dedicated to the environment, sustainability, and fostering neighborly engagement by making the great outdoors an essential part of daily life.

This harmonious blending of a fully functioning community, nature-based amenities, and the opportunity to live a convenient, fulfilling, sustainable life is what makes us Distinctly Bridgeland, and you won’t find it anywhere else.

Our thoughtful approach has been recognized and honored by leading industry organizations, such as The Houston Business Journal, National Association of Home Builders, the Texas Association of Builders, and the Greater Houston Builders Association. Learn more about our awards here.

3,000 Acres of Dedicated Open Space

Before the first shovel of dirt was moved, Bridgeland’s land planners conducted an extensive environmental study to find how best to protect, preserve and restore the natural environment within the community’s boundaries. The result is dramatic. Our developers chose to devote 3,000 acres to open space, providing a forever place where both residents and wildlife will thrive together for generations to come.

900 Acres of Lakes & Waterways

A peaceful energy flows throughout Bridgeland’s first 500 acres of lakes and waterways, ideal for outdoor activities and quiet reflection. An additional 400 acres will be added in the future. Into fishing, bird watching or small boating? Cast a line into the lakes stocked for catch-and-release fishing. Focus your binoculars on more than 140 species of migratory birds feeding or gliding across the lakes. Become one with your kayak, canoe or paddleboat. Make any activity a solo excursion or a family affair.

Self-Sustaining Irrigation

Bridgeland’s master environmental plan, developed early in its history, outlines the community’s forward-thinking and environmentally conscious approach to energy, wildlife, and yes, irrigation. Not surprisingly, Bridgeland is the first community in Houston to embrace the “purple pipe” system from the onset of development. This system uses recycled water from community lakes to irrigate all common areas in a sustainable way, saving a significant amount of water and helping the community to run more cost-effectively. Rain gardens are a prominent feature used in Parkland Square for the filtering of rain water run-off, and will continue to be
