Be A Superhero And Support America’s Heros At Bridgeland’s Veterans Fun Run/Walk For Heroes

Lace up your sneakers and join us in honoring veterans and active service members. The fourth annual Veterans Fun Run/Walk for Heroes takes place in Bridgeland on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

The timed 5K walk/run begins at 8 AM at Festival Park and takes participants to Josey Lake, and the 1K kids’ run/walk around Lake Bridgeland begins at 9 AM. The children’s walk is open to strollers and wagons and with additional entertainment, activities for kids, food trucks and vendors, it will make it a fun morning for the whole family. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero.

The non-profit Bridgeland Community Supports Veterans, Inc. was formed five years ago to support immediate needs of area veterans. The group is made up of community residents and veterans seeking to honor military service men and women who served our country. Collected entry fees from this fundraiser will be used to help finance a memorial park in Bridgeland, designed by one of Bridgeland’s veteran residents. The group also supports a Christmas Toys for children of veterans program and Memorial Day and Veterans Day events.

You can honor a veteran or active service member by providing their name when registering. The Bridgeland Community Supports Veterans, Inc. group will create signs displaying names along the race route.

Pick up your race packet Friday, October 18 from 2 PM – 6 PM at Lakeland Activity Center or at 7 AM before the race on Saturday. The top 3 male and female 5K runners will be awarded trophies. Medals will be awarded to all children under 10, as well as 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes to the winners of the Children’s Superhero Costume contest.

Adult entry fee is $35 and kids 10 and under are $20 or less – depending on how many children are in the family. The race starts at 16902 Bridgeland Landing Rd. in Lakeland Village’s Festival Park and will be a rain or shine event. Register now here, because late registrants will incur a $5 surcharge.

The race is sponsored by HCA Houston Healthcare; Spencer Landscaping Company; Schwartz, Page & Harding, LLP; Cypress Academy; Dr. Charles E. Dyer IV, DDS, MS; Farmers Insurance Agent Erlynne Rivera-Nansteel; Lippincott Team; Shingle Hutt; Radiant Eye Care; Active Life Dentistry; The Howard Hughes Corporation; Inframark; Dianne Tetreault; Kay Burkhalter; and Tom Cloud.

Parking is permitted along Bridgeland Landing Rd.; in the rear parking area at Lakeland Village Center; or across Fry Road at Cy-Ranch High School.
