Howard Hughes Senior Scholarship Program Now Accepting Applications

If your family has a senior in high school, you know that this is an exciting time of life. Students have taken required tests for admission to college, filled out applications and are anxiously checking the mailbox for acceptance letters from their first-choice school where they hope to spend the next four years in their educational journey.

Tuition, room and board, books and travel all add up to the expense of earning a college degree. Helping to lighten the burden of funding higher education, Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. is pleased to continue a scholarship program as part of their HHCares program, an initiative that supports over 180 charitable causes in the Houston region, each year. Applications are now being accepted.

The scholarship program started in 2020 with the first graduating class from Bridgeland High School. Now in the fifth year, the Howard Hughes 2024 Senior Scholarship Program offers college-bound seniors the chance to earn $2,500 towards the cost of tuition. In 2022, the program extended to students attending Waller High School. A total of four scholarships will be awarded – two $2,500 scholarships to graduating seniors at Bridgeland High School and two $2,500 scholarships to graduating seniors at Waller High School. Students at Bridgeland High School and Waller High School do not have to be a Bridgeland resident to submit an application.

Applications can be found on Bridgeland.com. Students are required to fill out the application and submit their essay prior to the deadline of 5:00 P.M. Friday, April 19, 2024. Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need, and students must be in good standing with their respective school. The scholarship selection committee will choose the winners, and their names will be announced at your school’s Senior Awards Night.

Quality education is one of the tenets of our community and a top motivator for homebuyers. That’s why we are proud to make a variety of high-quality school choices available to Bridgeland families. Both Bridgeland and Waller High Schools provide students unparalleled learning experiences, preparation for college and greater options for exploration such as architecture, agriculture, robotics, engineering, law, and journalism, just to name a few.

Having students reach their full potential is a shared goal among all schools. Through the Scholarship Program, Howard Hughes seeks to strengthen educational opportunities for students as they go beyond the boundaries of Bridgeland to college and university. We encourage your college-bound senior to apply today. Questions may be directed to the Bridgeland Welcome Center by calling 281-304-5588.
