Construction of our third village is underway and anticipation is growing to see what exciting new elements it will bring. Located on the west side of Grand Parkway, Prairieland Village will join Lakeland Village and Parkland Village as the next chapter of Bridgeland comes to life. The first Prairieland homesites are expected to be available by summer 2021, adding an additional 7,000 homesites to the number #1 selling community in Texas.

“Since we sold our first home nearly 15 years ago, Bridgeland has been breaking new ground on the residential experience, while becoming the top selling community in Texas,” said Heath Melton, Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities, Residential, for The Howard Hughes Corporation. He added, “Prairieland Village is the natural step forward, drawing beauty and inspiration from the surrounding native ecosystem along with innovative, sustainable and resilient features while providing a walkable, interconnected community that encourages a healthy and active lifestyle. Like the other villages, Prairieland will offer sought-after amenities and a variety of Houston’s top builders and model homes from which to choose.”

In 2006, when Lakeland Village first opened, people were drawn to the community inspired by lakes and open space. Parkland Village came online and was designed around the concept of living life in a park. With Prairieland Village, Howard Hughes is taking an artful approach to the next chapter in Bridgeland’s story. Weaving together nature-inspired design features and modern architecture, Prairieland Village will highlight textures, colors, and native rustic materials to create a contemporary aesthetic in a natural setting – all supporting the village’s theme, “Painted by Nature.”

Residents will continue to find prairie and meadow-like flora and fauna and abundant green space for gathering outside. What they’ll find new about Prairieland is how landscaping typologies will shift between neighborhoods. Some will lean toward a wooded feel and others will tend toward the prairie or plains. All homes will have pollinator plants to create habitats for pollinating species, encouraging butterflies and humming birds, adding color to the canvas of Prairieland.

The new village will highlight the concept of “movement.” You’ll easily recognize the movement of water found in lakes and bioswales and even the movement of tall grasses as they sway in gentle breezes. As construction of the village continues, look for movement of landscape forms between neighborhoods. You’ll find movement there, too, as they transition between piney woods, to prairies to plains. Movement of pedestrians will also be recognized  as pathways and under-crossings at major intersections will provide safe passage for residents venturing out for strolls, future shopping, or going to school.

Education is an important component within all of Bridgeland, and residents of Prairieland Village will be zoned to Waller Independent School District, Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District, and Katy Independent School District – all of which have been designated top-rated districts by the Texas Education Agency. Waller ISD recently announced the purchase of land in Prairieland Village to build a state-of-the-art elementary school, its first campus in Bridgeland.

Prairieland Village will offer residents the same world-class amenities as Bridgeland’s first two villages. Residents already know they’ll be more than just amenities and more like works of art. We’ll just have to wait and see what creative approach will be given to the series of lakes designed for recreational activities, a lakefront pavilion, activity complex and village park, canoe and kayak launches, hiking and biking trails, birdwatching locations, catch-and-release fishing, neighborhood parks and playgrounds, and shade pavilions.

Building for the future with masterful design and excellence in execution is the vision of The Howard Hughes Corporation. Creating a culture for our residents that elevates communities far beyond a typical neighborhood demonstrates this forward-thinking approach. Prairieland Village will surely compliment the rest of Bridgeland, northwest Houston’s award-winning master planned community.

The overall vision makes Prairieland Village a standout in innovative design, environmental sustainability, and community engagement. The announcement of Prairieland Village celebrates the community’s next chapter and will be known as our canvas, our art, our community – Painted by Nature.
