The start of a new year brings with it a clean slate and a chance to start things anew. Many people choose the new year to begin or enhance their exercise regimen. If this describes you, you’ll be happy to know that Bridgeland offers many opportunities throughout its 3,000 acres of lakes, parks, and trails to help get you off to a good start in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Bridgeland’s hike and bike trails and walkways meander through this beautiful community for nearly 100 miles and will expand to 250 miles upon completion. Set off in a new direction each day and you’ll always see something new. Start off taking a walk along any of the paths that encircle our many lakes. Let the fractals in the rippling water calm your mind, while sounds of chirping birds and the whisper of the wind soothe your soul. Each step you take gets you one step closer to achieving your goal.
Perhaps you already work out and are looking for a change of routine or a way to get a good stretch. Dragonfly Park’s activity center in Parkland Village, in addition to being a top-notch exercise facility, offers classes in Pilates and yoga to help you lengthen those muscles and tone your core. Situated along Dragonfly Lake, the activity center also boasts a lap pool, a tiered splash pad, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts and a dog park.
You’ll find several well-equipped gyms throughout our community. Lakeland Village recently opened a beautiful new fitness facility separate from the activity center. Overlooking Lake Bridgeland, vaulted ceilings and large windows invite you to blur the line between indoors and out as you work up a good sweat.
Did you know Bridgeland also has several outdoor exercise spaces? If you are looking to spend more time outdoors, you can utilize the training equipment along House Hahl Trail or Parkland Common. Both linear trails include fitness stations for circuit training along their routes. At the start of Parkland Common, located off Roaming Bison Trail, you’ll find another outdoor space designed with exercise in mind. It includes berms for running and training and a small deck for stretching and yoga.
For those who like to swim, Lakeland Village park offers a heated pool for year-round lap swimming. There is also a lap pool at Dragonfly Park and a third lap pool is expected to open this summer at Longwing Landing in Prairieland Village. And if being near the water brings you joy, you can kayak and canoe on any of our lakes. Josey Lake boathouse offers the opportunity to utilize our non-motorized boats so that you can spend some time paddling in the water. If you have your own kayak and would like to free up some garage space, you can keep it handy by storing it at the boathouse when space is available.
One of the best ways to add more movement to your day is to grab a friend and go for a walk, play basketball, disc golf, cricket, tennis, pickleball, or soccer. You name it, we’ve got a space or field to do it! Our community was designed to bring balance to daily lives by providing ample recreational opportunities, both inside and out, and everything is better when you do it with a friend! Happy 2023, and we look forward to seeing you in the gym, on the trail, in the pool, at the park…
