You’ve heard it said that giving is better than receiving. At Bridgeland, we take this maxim to heart and make giving to charities and nonprofit organizations a priority. In 2018 alone, Bridgeland donated nearly $70,000 to 15 local and national charities. Our main areas of focus are education, health and wellness, community enrichment, and nature preservation. You can learn about the many different organizations we support below.

Cy-Fair Educational Foundation

Cy-Fair Educational Foundation raises funds to increase college access for graduates of Cy-Fair ISD by awarding scholarships. It also raises funds to promote excellence in teaching by providing grants for staff development.

Houston Wilderness

This organization is dedicated to protecting, preserving and promoting the 10 ecoregions in Greater Houston. One of Bridgeland’s own team members also serves on the executive board and is part of the board of directors.

West Houston Association (WHA)

WHA has been a great industry and nonprofit partner to Bridgeland for more than a decade. Heath Melton, Vice President, Master Planned Communities Residential for The Howard Hughes Corporation (HHC), serves as chairman of the WHA board. WHA has a 40-year history of bringing new ideas in infrastructure, public policies and planning to Greater West Houston.

Cy-Hope

Cy–Hope is a local nonprofit that strives to rally the entire community – businesses, education, churches, civic organizations, hospitals, and individual volunteers – to advance its goal of making life better for kids in Cy-Fair. It brings hope to at-risk children, so they will grow into educated and productive citizens. Every year at Nature Fest, Bridgeland’s spring festival, we raise money for this wonderful organization. Additionally, our team volunteers its time to assist in a variety of Cy-Hope’s community service projects.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)

LLS is the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding research, finding cures and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients. Last year, Heath Melton and Jim Carman, Vice President, Master Planned Communities Commercial Development for HHC, were co-chairs of the 2018 Montgomery County Light the Night Walk chapter of LLS and raised more than $250,000 in sponsorships.

Animal-Friendly Charities

We can’t forget about our four-legged friends! Over the past 10 years, we have raised about $20,000 to help local animal rescue groups at Howl-O-Ween Fest, Bridgeland’s fall festival. Additionally, we help these amazing rescue organizations recruit foster families and facilitate pet adoptions on-site at this annual event.

Operation Finally Home

Bridgeland and Beazer Homes teamed up to help a veteran in need through Operation Finally Home. This organization provides mortgage-free homes to service members and their families who are ill or have been wounded or injured as a result of their service. Bridgeland’s sister communities, The Woodlands and The Woodlands Hills, have also donated homesites to Operation Finally Home.

A Culture of Giving

HHC, Bridgeland’s parent company, is passionate about making charitable giving a priority for the company. More than 20 percent of HHC team members in Houston sit on boards of directors throughout the Houston area. HHC also gives every full-time employee 24 hours of paid time to volunteer for the charity project(s) of their choice. This past year, our marketing team volunteered three times throughout Cypress and The Woodlands, doing its part to help the HHCares initiative.

Additional local organizations that we support include Bayou Preservation Association, all local Bridgeland schools, The Bridgeland Community Supports Veterans, Inc., Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce, Lone Star College – CyFair, Cy-Fair Women’s Club, HomeAid Houston, American Heart Association, United Way, Greater Houston Builders Association, and Katy Prairie Conservancy.

Spring Giving Drive

We love the opportunities we’ve had to support all of these amazing charities and nonprofit organizations. Now, you can get involved! For a limited time, we will donate $1,000 to one of three charities for every new home purchased in any HHC’s three communities. Together, we can truly make a difference in our community and ensure that every home can change lives.
