After much anticipation, construction has begun on Prairieland Village, Bridgeland’s third of four planned villages. Joining the community’s top-rated schools will be the addition of a Waller Independent School District (WISD) elementary school – the first to be built in Bridgeland – and the first school in the new village.

WISD recently purchased 18 acres of land near the intersection of Bridgeland Creek Parkway and Prairieland Crossing on the west side of Grand Parkway. Joining Bridgeland High School, Pope Elementary, Wells Elementary and another elementary school planned by Cy-Fair Independent School District, the addition of this school will bring the sum to five schools in the Bridgeland community.

“Bridgeland is known for the high standards of its academic offerings, and Waller ISD aligns with the established tradition of educational excellence within our larger community-focused environment,” said Heath Melton, Executive Vice President of MPC Residential, The Howard Hughes Corporation. “Onsite schools are a coveted amenity, and it will be an asset to have the campus early in the development of Prairieland Village. We look forward to fostering a long-term relationship with Waller ISD.”

Each of the schools attended by Bridgeland students earned an A rating from the Texas Education Agency in the last statewide ratings. Similarly, Waller ISD is a top-rated school district that also earned an A rating from the Texas Education Agency in the last statewide ratings, one of the few Title I districts in the state to earn the distinction.

Waller ISD includes eight campuses with over 8,000 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. It is listed as one of the top ten fastest growing districts in Greater Houston. Dedicated to individualized instruction, incorporating 1:1 technology across all levels of learning, it’s known for its robust Career and Technology Education program. WISD officials say the school will emulate the footprint of the district’s successful Jones Elementary. Neither an opening date nor a formal name has been officially announced for the Waller elementary school.

After seeing 18% growth last year, high-quality education is one of the reasons Bridgeland continues to be the top-selling community in Houston and Texas. The new elementary school ensures that students continue to receive an excellent education enhancing Bridgeland’s already strong network of educational offerings and supports the accelerated growth Bridgeland and the Northwest Houston area is experiencing.

Drawing homebuyers because of top-ranked schools, unmatched amenities, ample outdoor space and quality of life, Prairieland Village will be home to approximately 7,000 homesites. Homebuyers will continue to find a mix of housing styles and sizes as well as an array of amenities that are unique to Prairieland. The first homesites are expected to be available later this year.
